Acceptance of terms

By creating an account or clicking to accept these Terms of Service, you enter into a binding agreement with us. If you do not agree, do not create an account or use the service.

For paid subscriptions, these terms are presented and must be affirmatively accepted at the point of purchase. Continued use of the free tier after changes to these terms constitutes acceptance only where we have given you at least 30days' prior written notice of the changes.

What Collie is

Collie is a personal finance planning and tracking tool. It helps you organise income, expenses, loans, assets, and investments. Collie gives you an overview of your financial position based on data you enter.

Collie is not a regulated financial service. Nothing in the app constitutes investment advice, tax advice, credit advice, or any other regulated financial advice. Collie does not have access to your bank accounts, does not execute transactions, and does not hold your money. You are solely responsible for your financial decisions. Always consult a qualified and regulated financial professional before making significant financial choices.

Technical characteristics: Collie is a web application accessible via modern browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge). It requires an internet connection and stores your data in a cloud database. There are no mandatory software downloads. The service is compatible with desktop and mobile browsers that support ES2020 and CSS custom properties.

Your account

To use Collie you must provide a valid email address and complete authentication. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity that occurs under your account.

During the current beta phase, access may be limited to invited users. We reserve the right to revoke beta access at any time, in which case we will aim to give you reasonable advance notice except where immediate termination is required to protect the service or other users.

You must be at least 16 years old to create an account.

Your data

All financial data you enter into Collie belongs to you. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties except as described in our Privacy Policy.

You can export all your data at any time in open formats (CSV, JSON) from Settings → Data. If you close your account or your subscription ends, you may export your data for up to 30 days after termination before it is permanently deleted.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of applicable law
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the service or its infrastructure
  • Interfere with or disrupt the service or its underlying systems
  • Share your account credentials with others or create accounts on behalf of others without authorisation
  • Use automated tools to access the service at a rate that could impair its availability for other users
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the service
  • Upload or transmit malicious code or content intended to harm the service or other users

Beta software

Collie is in active development. You acknowledge that:

  • The service may contain bugs or be unavailable at times — we do not offer a specific uptime guarantee during the beta period
  • Features may change, be added, or be removed as we develop the product
  • We recommend keeping your own backups of important financial data (Settings → Export CSV or JSON Backup)

Pricing and subscriptions

Collie offers a free plan and a Pro plan. Current Pro plan pricing:

  • Monthly: €4.99 per month
  • Annual: €45 per year (€3.75/month)

All prices include applicable VAT. We will give you at least 30 days' written notice before any price increase takes effect. You may cancel your subscription before the new price takes effect without penalty.

During the current beta period, Pro features are available to all users free of charge. When the beta ends, continued access to Pro features will require a paid subscription. You will be given at least 30 days' notice before the free beta period ends.

Right of withdrawal (EU consumers)

If you are a consumer in the European Union, you have the right to withdraw from a paid subscription within 14 daysof purchase without giving any reason (the "cooling-off period"), under the Consumer Rights Directive 2011/83/EU.

How to exercise this right: Send a clear written statement to hello@colliefinance.com before the 14-day period expires, stating your name, your account email, and that you wish to withdraw. You may use the following model statement:

"I hereby give notice that I withdraw from my contract for the Collie Pro subscription. Purchased on [date]. Name: [your name]. Account email: [your email]."

We will refund all payments received from you within 14 days of receiving your withdrawal notice, using the same payment method as your original purchase.

Exception: If you explicitly request that the service begins immediately during the cooling-off period and the service has been fully performed, you may lose your right of withdrawal. We will always ask for this explicit consent before charging.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law and without limiting your statutory rights as a consumer:

  • Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these terms or your use of the service is limited to the total fees you paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim (or €100 if you have not paid any fees).
  • We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses, including financial decisions made based on information displayed in the app, loss of data beyond what we are obligated to retain under these terms, or business losses.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for: death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any liability that cannot be excluded under mandatory consumer protection law in your jurisdiction.

Termination

By you: You may stop using Collie at any time and delete your account from Settings → Account → Delete Account. Paid subscriptions can be cancelled at any time; you retain access until the end of the current billing period. No refunds are issued for partial periods except where you exercise your right of withdrawal (see above).

By us: We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these terms, in which case we will give you notice. During the beta period, we may also terminate access for operational reasons with at least 14 days' notice. We will not terminate a paid subscription without a minimum of 30 days' notice except in cases of serious breach.

After termination: You may export your data for up to 30 days after account closure. After that period, all data is permanently deleted.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of Portugal. For consumers in the EU, you also benefit from mandatory consumer protection rules in your country of residence, which these terms cannot override.

If you have a complaint, please contact us first at hello@colliefinance.com and we will aim to resolve it within 15 business days.

EU consumers may also use the European Commission's Online Dispute Resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the service evolves. For material changes, we will give you at least 30 days' written notice before the new terms take effect, via email or an in-app notification. If you do not accept the updated terms, you may close your account before they take effect. For paid subscribers, we will not apply material changes to your current subscription period without your consent.
